REMINESCENCE

3009492-poster-headphones-picturesTwo weeks ago, you were the first to know about that new song and while you listened, you didn’t know the lyrics yet, but you sang along at the top of your lungs anyway. The next morning, you already had it on your player; you were listening to it nonstop, and had already persuaded your BFFs to listen to it, too.

Then the next day, it was playing on the radio. The day after that, it was everywhere. They played it at your favorite noodle restaurant; the guy in front of you at the queue to the cashier at the grocer’s listened to it; and your classmates sang along to it.

Last week, you music player was shuffled, and it came on. You listened, mostly, but you only sang along to your favorite parts.

Today, when it came on the radio again, you just switched stations.

But five, ten, forty years from now if you hear it, and if you’re alone, you’re going to turn it up loud, sing along, and remember. Remember the lyrics, as if it’s just yesterday that you were singing it; remember the radio you used to listen to, now just a   decoration; remember all of the memories that came with it.

I don’t know. I guess that’s sort of what love can be like sometimes.
